Opera Roanoke regularly presents community engagements across the region as part of its Opera Around Roanoke initiative to share the magic of opera with students and citizens of all ages and interests.

OPERAtions are Opera Roanoke’s outreach programs for schools and community organizations. Opera Roanoke’s artistic staff, guest artists and apprentice artists tailor programs to hosting schools and organizations. In addition to performances by Opera Roanoke artists, offerings include master-classes, solo and group vocal technique, audition preparation, and presentations on opera and musical theater. Students participating in these workshops gain invaluable experience, enhance their musical education, build confidence and self-discipline, in addition to meeting exceptionally talented role models.

Opera Roanoke regularly offers live programs and engaging presentations for civic and community organizations. Recent programs have brought opera to the Trinity Ecumenical Parish, Trust House, South Roanoke United Methodist Church, Mill Mountain Theatre Conservatory, and retirement communities like The Glebe and Our Lady of the Valley.

Opera Roanoke and our Apprentice Artists are available for School Visits. These visits can be in the form of Master Classes or vocal coachings for upcoming performances or Festivals, as examples.

Looking for an illuminating and exciting field trip for your students? Educators and students are invited to attend Opera Roanoke dress rehearsals! Arrangements can also be made for students to go back-stage to see how the action comes to life. Opera Roanoke is one of the leading arts organizations in the region for innovative educational, community engagement and collaborative programming.
