The Masque was an early form of "festive entertainment" featuring "singers and dancers, actors, poets and players." Opera Roanoke's Masques of Orpheus is a new series of innovative programs of operatic entertainment featuring a variety of arias, duets, scenes, poetry, theatre & dance. Thist hriller, OperaRoanoke's first fully-staged Wagner opera, will only be ashore for one weekend.

Handel's Julius Caesar in Egypt is not only his grandest opera, it is one of the greatest character dramas in music. Reimagining Caesar's historical campaign in Egypt, Handel's ensemble drama features showstoppers for each of the principal characters. Cleopatra and her villainous brother, Ptolemy jockey for the favor of the Roman Emperor while the noble widow Cornelia and her hot-headed son, Sesto seek revenge.
